Need a permissions report?
In this guide following, I will walk you through the steps of generating a SharePoint site permissions report using the SharePoint Essentials Toolkit.
First, you must download the SharePoint permissions reporting and management tool.
Second, you must sign up for the license by going here and clicking “Download Community Edition (FREE)”
The report will include users who have access to your SharePoint sites, within Microsoft Teams, sharing links, and other vital information that is very difficult to get when using PowerShell alone.
- Launch the tool and click to Add New Connection
- Enter the required information to add a connection to SharePoint
- Once a connection profile is created, click Next and you can search for your SharePoint sites which you want to report permissions against.
- Select one or more sites from the Home Page Dashboard (see screenshots below), then click ‘Permissions’ button, then “Permissions Report”
- Select your options and click “Run Now”
- That’s it! Click Export if you would like to export your report to Excel
